Pulling together a big post on Dub Reggae (coming soon) I realised that although I had uploaded a Woebot in Dub v2 mix, Woebot in Dub v1 was nowhere to be found. The reason behind this is because Woebot in Dub v1 was a CD with less tracks that I shared with friends, and v2 was just the same selection with a few more tracks. I thought that before I drop the meticulously crafted and soon-to be-legendary (legendary I say!) Woebot in Dub v3, that this might be an opportunity to make v1.
v1 is in essence Dub 101. It's the 17 tracks that I would say were both the essential starting point for anyone curious about the genre and hands-down untouchable, stone-cold classics. It's likely that everyone has heard them all - but as a fifty year old music geek I am aware that it's possible to take this foundational learning in others for granted. Tsk. For instance, if you only heard my "London's Dreaming" Hardcore and Jungle mix you'd get a very distorted idea as to what were the really big tracks back in the day. In fact, I've often thought I should make a "classics" Jungle mix - but reason there are plenty of them. But where there is a v2 and a v3 surely there must be a v1!?! Hold tight for the prequel.
