Just some things which have caught my ear recently which also seem to belong together.

Telegrammatic Notes:

Loving the Daniel Lanois Neville Brothers mix. So deliciously poised between the authentic and inauthentic. Prince Paul - some kind of hero - this very much on the outer edges of acceptability but read it as a critique of normalized violence. Listening to those first four Bjork CDs quite a lot. Young Disciples - the poor man's Massive Attack. Gorgeous samba from Chico and Tocquino - making the softest sounds solid. Brilliant and curious clockwork Bossa Nova post-rock from Sam Prekop. From the insanely under-rated fourth ATCQ LP - I mean WTF is wrong with the skewed appraisal of this masterpiece. Django Django - a pocket Beta Band - I don't mind this AT ALL. Gilberto Gil, like Jorge Ben, should loom as large as Fela Kuti - masterpiece after masterpiece. Insanely great Mantronix production of Chandra Simmons. I slept on this Arthur Verocai release - is than an Arp? Reynolds fave Sacred. Comedown with Gas. Home in an hour.
